Smack My Bitch Up is one of my favourite Prodigy tracks. While I knew that The Prodigy used many samples to construct their music, I had always assumed most of it was original composition. Well, in this case, I was wrong. But how they put this together is simply amazing. And so is the dude who figured it out. Prepare yourself to be wow'd.
The Edmonton Oilers made history tonight: they won all 5 games of a 5 game road trip. Even in the days of Gretzky and Messier the Oilers never accomplished that feat (until tonight). Unfortunately I did not watch the game live but managed to watch and re-watch the highlights. Yes, a couple wins came via the shootout, but a win is a win no matter how you slice and dice it. I can only hope this means the team is on the right track to attain a higher level of play for the rest of the season. Go Oilers Go!
To my recollection the term 'Scary Good' has only been in common use the past couple of years. I suppose a possible definition could be that something (or someone) is so spectacular that it makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, like watching a scary movie. Regardless of how the term came about, I reckon the new Metric album is 'Scary Good'. Ridiculously good. Outrageously good. You get the picture. Actually, the album's been out since April and I've been smacking myself for not paying attention until now. I mean, I could have been enjoying it for 8 more months of my life. Whatever.
If you noticed that the 2 albums between Fantasies and Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? have been (what's the right word?), meh, this may hint at the reason why. I just wish that they had written Fantasies before we saw them at Coachella 2008. That would have been the cherry on the icing.
There are musicians which jump to mind when non-Canadians are asked to name 'Canadian' ones and they usually name one of either Bryan Adams or Celine Dion. But seriously, after Fantasies, we should be known for Metric. Cuz they are scary good.
The buzz-phrase of pro-sports these days is Alternative Revenue Source. Indeed, we (the fans) need to pony-up to bring talented athletes to our sports teams to help bring so-called 'glory' to our respective cities. Nevermind that these multi-million dollar contracts are guaranteed despite injury and/or underperformance; it's the price we pay to have them play. Well actually, the NFL doesn't have guaranteed contracts, at least not in the same way as the NHL, NBA, and MLB do. Regardless, I just found out from my pal Dex that the Oiler's game tonight is only online*. If you go to gamecenter.nhl.com you will see that for the princely sum of $29.95/month or $149 total, you can tune in and watch your beloved oil slosh around on what they pass for ice in Tampa tonight**.

**Just found out (courtesy of Dex) that the Oiler's game isn't only on gamecenter; it'll be on Oilers.com. Not sure if it's free or not, but I still stand by my conviction that gamecenter is a rip-off.
The Raptors had one of their worst shooting nights of the year (32%)...and they won! The reason...check this statline: 40-48 from the free throw line! How ridiculous is that? I don't remember any Sam Mitchell team going to the charity stripe that often. Kudos to Jay and the players. Bosh was a monster again, especially on the boards, retrieving critical offensive and defensive rebounds at key moments of the game. Enjoy the victory boys, you deserve it!
